为了进一步展示博物馆的良好形象和文化精神，使广大市民更好地利用博物馆资源和贯彻落实《广州市博物馆规定》第十八条“对博物馆实行统一标识管理”的相关规定，广州市文化广电新闻出版局于去年8月至10月，向社会开展了广州市博物馆统一标识征集活动。
Ten finalists out of 874 submitted works in a contest to design a uniform identifier for Guangzhou museums were made public on January 11. The winner will receive an award of 20,000 yuan (pre-tax), and the nine other finalists will get 8,000 yuan each (pre-tax).
The 10 released identifiers were submitted by individuals and teams from home and abroad and were selected by a special committee of experts.
最终，在社会各界踊跃投稿下，总共征集到874份作品。
经组织博物馆行业代表、高校艺术设计专业代表和艺术设计行业代表开展评审工作，共评选出10个入围作品。

The criteria used for judging the entries were:
— The design is expected to represent all museums of different kinds in Guangzhou and reflect the culture and characteristics of the city.
— It should be highly recognizable, easy to be used for publicity and transmission, and without any sort of intellectual property disputes.

Guangzhou museum regulations state that museums should be managed with an identifier that is included in the urban sign system, which includes road signs, guideposts, and maps.
To comply with that objective, the then Administration of Culture, Radio, Film, Television, Press and Publication of Guangzhou Municipality in August solicited from the public a uniform identifier for the city's museums.
据悉，无论是民间博物馆还是公办博物馆，只要是批准设立的正规博物馆，都可以使用这一统一标识，可以称之为广州市博物馆的一个‘身份证’。
新标识投入使用后，与各博物馆已有的自身标识并不冲突，可同时使用。
The city has 61 museums, 35 of which are under the administration of cultural heritage departments, 15 special-interest ones, and 11 non-state-owned facilities.
They cover a wide range of subjects, including Chinese medicine, biology, finance, beer, cosmetics, mortgage, art, history, sports and herbal tea.
